37 Jamaat men held in dists

Chittagong district police arrested 15 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) from different areas of Satkania and Lohagarha upazilas Saturday, reports BSS.

A team of Satkania thana police in a series of drives arrested 10 activists of Jamaat and ICS from different areas under the Upazila at 5:00 am Saturday, said AKM Ekram Bhuiyan Assistant Superintendent of Police, (Satkania circle).

They were involved in the supply of arms and money to conduct acts of sabotage, he added.

UNB report adds: Joint forces in separate drives arrested 22 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir in Sadar and Shibganj upazilas of the district Saturday.

Police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said the joint forces conducted a drive in Sadar Upazila and arrested 10 Jamaat-Shibir men Saturday.

The joint forces also conducted a drive in Shibganj Upazila of the district and arrested 12 Jamaat-Shibir men in the dead of night.

Bashir Ahmed, superintendent of police (SP) of Chapainawabganj, said the arrestees were fugitive accused in separate cases.
