4 BCL men held over violence at BSMMU

Police arrested four activists of Dhaka University (DU) unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on charge of attempt to vandalise the vice chancellor's office of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Saturday.
The arrestees include Marketing Department student Akhter Hossain, Management Department student Shahadat Hossain, Sanskrit and Pali Department student Anisur Rahman and Sociology Department student Sajidul Islam..
They are residents of Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall of DU. Sources said the BCL activists beat up some employees and tried to vandalise the BSMMU VC office over breaking a queue of patients by an employee.
Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Karim said police on information at around 11: 30 am held the four students as they tried to damage the BSMMU VC office over altercation with some employees.
DU Proctor Prof Saiful Islam Khan said the students locked into clash with some employees over violating a line of the patients visiting doctors by a member of the BSMMU staff.
Meanwhile, five BCL men were expelled from the organisation for marching with a protest procession towards Shahbagh thana at noon defying the directives of BCL high command.
