4 hurt as AL rivals clash in Benapole

BENAPOLE, (Jessore), Nov 25 (UNB): At least four people were injured, one was bullet-hit, as two rival groups of the ruling Awami League (AL) locked into a clash over taking possession of a Baor (water-body) in Bahadurpur Union of the upazila Monday night.
Among the injured, the bullet was identified as Kumor Ali Fakir, 42, a resident of the Dhanno Khola village of the upazila.
Police said a clash ensued between one group led by Bahadurpur union unit AL president Mizanur Rahman and the other group was led by the unit's general secretary Mofizur Rahman over taking possession of a water body in Bahadurpur Sunday.
Following the Sunday's clash, supporters of the Mizan group equipped with firearms attacked Mofizur group's men Monday night, leaving four people critically injured.
Of them, one Fakir received bullet.
The injured were admitted to Jessore 250-bed hospital and Sharsha upazila health complex.
