4 hurt in RU Shibir-police clash

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, May 26: At least three cops and a leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) were injured in a clash between the law enforcers and the Shibir cadres in the Choddapay area near Rajshahi University (RU) Sunday night.

Police arrested injured ICS university unit sports secretary Afzal Hossain Faisal with five cocktails from the spot.

The injured cops were sub-inspector (SI) Masud Rana and two constables Rakib and Shahinur. The constables were admitted to Rajshahi Police Lines Hospital.

Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Motihar thana, told that a police team raided the area to arrest Afzal and its activist Babu. At that time the Shibir cadres blasted crude bombs triggering the clash.
