SYLHET, Jan 3 (UNB): Police arrested four activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir while they were holding a 'clandestine meeting' from a hotel in Darga Gate area of the city on Friday night.
The arrestees were identified as Abdus Samad Rany,26, Shahidur Rahman,22, Afzal Hossain,20, and Sadiqur Rahman,28.
Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said on secret information, police arrested the four from Hollyside Hotel in the area while they were holding a secret meeting there at about 8:00 pm.
However, their other associates fled the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
The arrestees were arrested in connection with subversive activities, the OC added
