A case has been filed against 40 local leaders and activists of Swechchhasebak Dal, volunteer front of BNP, in connection with Wednesday’s clash between police and them in Faridpur district town. Swechchhasebak Dal district convener Syed Julfiker Hossain Jewel is among the accused. Sub-inspector Akhil of Kotwali Police Station filed the case against 14 identified leaders and activists of Swechchhasebak Dal and 25-30 unidentified men of the organisation with the police station on Thursday. SI Akhil said the case was filed against the party men as they brought out a procession in the district town without police permission and obstructed law enforces from performing their duties. The clash erupted on Wednesday when police obstructed the procession brought by a group of Swechchhsebak Dal leaders and activists protesting filing of a case against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, according to UNB.
