5 Shibir men detained in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, Jun 30 (UNB): Police arrested five activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), student front of Jamaat-e-Islami, from Baro Bazar area in the district town Monday morning.

The arrestees were identified as Sayeed Hossain, 22, Halim Miah, 24, Ashraful,20, Sohel Rana,19, and Abdullah,21.

Sheikh Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive at about 6:00am and arrested the five Shibir activists while they were pasting anti-government posters in the area.

Police also recovered some such posters from their possession.
