SATKHIRA, Aug 29 (UNB): At least eight people were injured as activists of Awami League (AL) clashed with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men over establishing supremacy at Godaipur village in Ashashuni Upazila Friday morning.
Three of the injured were identified as Towhidul, Mukul alias Lomba Khokon and Zaman. They were admitted to local hospital.
Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between local Awami League leader ABM Mostakin and local Chhatra League leader SM Shahnewaz Dalim over establishing control over the area.
As a sequel to that, followers of the duo, equipped with locally-made weapons, locked into a clash in the morning, leaving at least eight people injured on both sides.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Mostakin and Dalim blamed each other for the incident.
