9 Shibir men arrested in Chuandaga

CHUADANGA, June 14 (UNB): Police in a drive arrested nine leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, including its president and general secretary, from a mosque at Kalidaspur village in Alamdanga Upazila Friday night.
The arrestees were identified as Bakul, president of district unit Chhatra Shibir, its general secretary Tariqul Islam, and activists Aminul Islam, Abdus Samad, Nasir Uddin, Saddam Hossain, Jakir Hossain, Ashraful Islam and Ashrafuzzman.
Acting on a secret information that a group of Shibir men were holding a clandestine meeting in the mosque, police conducted a drive in the area at around 9:00 pm and arrested the nine, said Jashim Uddin, sub-inspector of Alamdanga Police Station.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station, said the arrestees were holding a clandestine meeting against the government.
A case was filed in this connection.
