90pc support for 'boat' makes Oikya Front rowdy: Quader

FENI, Dec 15 (BSS): Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Saturday massive public support for 'boat', the election symbol of Awami League, made Jatiya Oikya Front and BNP leaders reckless.
"Witnessing 90 per cent support for 'Nouka' (boat), the leaders of Jatiya Oika Front and BNP have become reckless . . . And they are spreading imaginary allegations against the Awami League," he told journalists at Dagonbhuiyan on way to his electoral constituency in Noakhali.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, bitterly criticised the role of Dr Kamal Hossain, saying the Oikya Front leader, who speaks about morality, humanity and democracy, has now turned into a proponent of ill politics."
Referring to Kamal's violent reaction to a journalist's question on Jamaat-e-Islami at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum, the minister accused him of dishonouring the journalist community. "He presented himself in his real self uttering a Pakistani word 'Khamosh' (shut up)."
About AL's rebel candidates for the 11th parliamentary election scheduled for December 30, the AL general secretary said, "Wait and see what measures are taken against them."
