AB Party names candidates for 108 seats in next polls

The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) on Thursday announced the names of its candidates for 108 constituencies as part of its first phase list for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election, reports UNB.
AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju announced the names at a press conference held at the Far East Tower auditorium on Topkhana Road in the capital.
"Today, we are announcing candidates for 108 seats. With this announcement, our formal election activities have begun," Monju said.
He said the second phase of the list will be announced next month.
Among the top leaders included in the list are Mojibur Rahman Monju for Feni-4, Asaduzzaman Fuad for Barishal-3, Abdul Wahab Minar for Patuakhali-1, Helal Uddin Ahmed for Dhaka-20, Didarul Alam for Chattogram-5, Golam Faruk for Chattogram-8, Nasreen Sultana Mili for Dhaka-10, and Farah Nas Sattar for Dhaka-17 seats.
Monju said if the AB party decides to contest the election independently, a final list of candidates will be prepared later.
"A committee will be formed to evaluate how the nominated candidates are working and reaching out to people," he observed.
Monju said he is encouraged by the growing public interest in the party. "Earlier, people were hesitant to associate themselves with AB Party. But now, new people are joining us, and we are becoming stronger."
"Since we issued a press release about preparing the candidate list, I have received hundreds of phone calls from people expressing their interest to contest the election under our party's banner," the AB Party chairman said.
He said those who could not be included in the first list would still have the opportunity to be nominated in the remaining constituencies. "This is a matter of joy for us that people now openly want to represent the AB Party," Monju said.
The AB Party was launched on May 2, 2020 with the goal of establishing a rights-based welfare state founded on the principles of equality, human dignity, and social justice.
The party received its registration from the Election Commission in 2024.
