ACC approves submission of charge sheets against AL leaders, six others

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) has approved submission of charge sheets in graft cases against eight individuals, including Awami League (AL) leaders HBM Iqbal and his family members, and Mirza Azam, for amassing wealth beyond their known sources of income.
ACC Director General (admin) Hanif Iqbal, also the Commission's spokesperson, said this while talking to journalists in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
"The Commission has approved submission of charge sheets against HBM Iqbal, his wife, two sons and daughter, Mirza Azam, Shawkat Ali and Mohammad Ali Khokon", the ACC director general said.
The ACC has approved filing of first information reports against former State Minister for Power Rafiqul Islam and former AL lawmaker Rafiqul Anwar, he said.
The commission has approved the issuing of notices to former Prime Minister's APS Shamsul Alam, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) collective bargaining agent (CBA) leader Amir Khasru and businessman from Faridpur Chand Khondoker, asking them to submit their wealth statements, he added.
Meanwhile, the commission has also approved the issuance of notice to former adviser to caretaker government Justice Fazlul Haque directing him to submit his wealth statement, sources said.
