ACC brings charge against Falu, 15 others

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) Sunday brought charges against 16 persons, including BNP-lawmaker Mosaddek Ali Falu, and filed cases against them for allegedly misappropriating Tk 5.5 million (55 lakh) worth of relief goods.
Sources said the 16 accused had indulged in misappropriating relief materials, including corrugated iron sheet, rice and blankets.
The ACC assistant director Sheikh Abdus Salam filed the cases against them for embezzlement of relief goods by producing fictitious lists of recipients.
The ACC said in its case report showed, all the accused persons, except Falu, were now absconding.
Among the accused persons--- commissioner of ward 37, Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan and his two personal secretaries (PS) Sujat Ali and Manjur Alam, Falu's PS ABM Masudur Rahman, commissioner of ward 40, Anwaruzzaman, commissioner of ward 54, Sarmila Imam, commissioner of ward 44, MA Majid are on the list.
The ACC is also planning to file cases against former communication minister Anwar Hossain Monju and his wife Tasmima Hossain for their undisclosed assets worth Tk 160 million (16 crore).
The ACC will send notice within a short time to the daughter of Monju seeking her wealth statement as well.
