ACC files case against ex-state minister, four others

LAXMIPUR, Feb 15 (UNB): The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a corruption case against former state minister Ziaul Huq Zia and four others with Ramganj thana.
Assistant Director of ACC Dhaka Office Monjurul Alam filed the case Thursday night for misappropriating rice sanctioned for a project by the accused.
The other accused are: Ramganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abul Hashem, former PIO Paritosh Baroi, Delwar Hossain and businessman Akhter Hossain.
The complainant, in his allegation, said the accused persons misappropriated 320 tonnes of rice, worth about Tk 5.29 million, sanctioned for 96 schemes under Rural Infrastructure Development Programme at Ramganj Upazila during 2004-05 fiscal year. But, no project work was done during the period, he alleged.
