The Supreme Court (SC) revoked Monday a High Court (HC) order that had quashed the proceedings of a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas, reports UNB.
A four-member Appellate Division (AD) bench, headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha, passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the ACC against the HC verdict.
With the SC judgment, there is no legal bar to continuation of the case in lower court, said Mamun Mahbub.
In 2007, the ACC filed the case against Mirza Abbas with Ramna thana accusing him of amassing wealth worth Tk 60 million (5.97 crore) illegally and concealing information about his wealth worth Tk 33 million (3.33 crore).
