The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) interrogated Thursday the former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, Chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Nurul Huda and former Member of Parliament (MP) Abdul Zabbar on different corruption allegations.
ACC deputy director (DD) Nasir Uddin quizzed the former state minister on his alleged accumulation of illegal wealth during the last Awami League-led government for three hours beginning 8-00 am at the ACC head office.
On February 16, the ACC sent a notice, signed by its DD Nasir Uddin, asking Mannan Khan to be present at the Commission head office on February 20. But he did not appear at the ACC office on health ground.
Earlier, the ACC started investigation into the alleged amassing of illegal wealth by seven ministers and members of parliament (MPs). They were the former health minister, state minister for housing and public works, and state minister for water resources, lawmaker of Cox's Bazar-4 Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP of Rajshahi-4 Engineer Enamul Haq, Aslamul Haque MP of Dhaka-14 and Abdul Zabbar of Satkhira.
Besides, the ACC also grilled the chairman of Rajuk on alleged irregularities in allotment of plots in different projects.
ACC DD Jaton Kumar Roy started interrogation of the Rajuk Chairman at 9.0 am at the Commission head office, sources said.
ACC officials said Mr Huda is allegedly involved in irregularities in allotment of residential plots in Purbachal and Uttara housing projects.
After facing grilling, the Rajuk Chairman claimed that he is not involved in any kind of irregularities.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the ACC also questioned Abdul Zabbar, a former Jatiya Party MP (Satkhira-2) on charge of amassing wealth illegally. ACC assistant director Maksudur Rahman grilled Jabbar for an hour from 11 am at the ACC head office.
