ACC holds public hearing in Gaibandha


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) forwarded nine complaints against different government offices in Gaibandha for formal investigation following a public hearing held on Monday.
The 193rd public hearing of the ACC was organised at the Gaibandha Indoor Stadium with the slogan "Together we will build a corruption-free Bangladesh".
The hearing was organised by the ACC Integrated District Office, Rangpur, aiming to raise public awareness against corruption, improve service quality at government and semi-government offices, and prevent harassment of service seekers, said an ACC press release.
Speaking at the inaugural session, ACC Secretary Mohammad Khaled Rahim said the commission regularly organises such hearings across the country to increase public awareness against corruption and improve services at public offices.
The event was chaired by Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Masudur Rahman.
Among others, ACC Director General Md Motahar Hossain, Md Akhtar Hossain, ACC Rangpur Divisional Office Director Md Nurul Huda addressed the programme as special guests.

A total of 97 complaints against 32 government, semi-government and autonomous bodies were heard during the public hearing.
The ACC decided to investigate seven complaints involving the Public Works Department, Water Development Board, Customs, Department of Environment, Gaibandha General Hospital, Railway and LGED.
The district registrar was instructed to submit an investigation report within seven days regarding allegations against the land sub-registrar office, while the remaining complaints were resolved instantly during the hearing.
