ACC receives affidavits of 5 politicians

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Tuesday received from the Election Commission (EC) the affidavits of five politicians who reportedly amassed illegal wealth in the last five years, reports UNB.

"The affidavits reached the ACC Tuesday from the EC," ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the news agency.

On Sunday last, the EC sent the affidavits of five politicians submitted before the 9th and 10th parliamentary elections in response to the latter's request for investigation into the allegation of their illegal wealth accumulation. But, the affidavit of former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque was not sent as he appealed to the EC to correct his wealth statement.

The six politicians are former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque, former state minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman and former state minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan, and Aslamul Haque, MP, of Dhaka-14, Abdur Rahman Bodi of Cox's Bazar-4 and ex-MP Abdul Jabbar of Satkhira-2.
