ACC submits charge sheet against ex-KCC mayor

KHULNA, Oct 7: The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) pressed Wednesday charges against former Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor and BNP leader Shaikh Tayebur Rahman for alleged misappropriation of about Tk 100 million by appointing additional labourers illegally.
Commission's Assistant Director Md Aminur Rahman submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court. The Commission filed the case with the Khulna Sadar police station on December 30, 2009.
The court sources said that the mayor appointed additional labourers against allotted 199 labourers between July-2002 and October-2007 misusing his power causing a loss of Tk 97.43 million to the Corporation.
