ACC sues Mirza Abbas, his wife

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case Thursday against former housing and public works minister Mirza Abbas and his wife Afroza Abbas for amassing wealth beyond their known sources of income.
Police said ACC Assistant Director Shafiul Alam lodged the case against the couple with Ramna police station at 10:40am under Sections 26(2), 27(1) of the Anti-corruption Commission Act-2004, Section 15(Gha)(5) of the Emergency Powers Rules-2007 and Section 109 of the Bangladesh Penal Code, reports UNB.
According to the case statement, the ACC found assets worth Tk 33,48,581, which was not included in their wealth statements submitted to the ACC.
