ACC to press charges against Engr Mosharraf, Orion Group chairman, two former MPs

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) is going to press charges against former minister and Awami League (AL) leader Engineer Mosharraf Hossain in a graft case filed for amassing illegal wealth and hiding information about it, reports UNB.brThe Commission has also decided to submit charge sheets in three other graft cases filed against Orion Group chairman Obaidul Karim, two former MPs and a union parishad chairman.brACC director general (admin) Col Hanif Iqbal told the Commission's regular briefing that the anti-graft watchdog Monday approved the submission of charge sheets in these four cases.brAL leader and former Housing and Public Works Minister Engr Mosharraf will be charge-sheeted for acquiring wealth worth about Tk 23 million (2.3 crore) beyond his known sources of income and concealment of information about it.brThe charge sheet in the case, filed on November 25, 2007, will be submitted under sections 26(2) and 27(1) of the Anti-corruption Commission Act, 2004 and Section 15 of the Emergency Power Rules, 2007.brThe ACC will press charges against Orion Group chairman Obaidul Karim and Saedul Haque, a former MP from Brahmanbaria, on charges of embezzlement of Tk 8.45 million (84.55 lakh) by selling a imported duty-free vehicle.
