ACC to sue Anee, Jabbar

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file separate cases against BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee and former Jatiya Party (JP) MP Abdul Jabbar for allegedly amassing illegal wealth.
The Commission at its recent meeting approved filing cases against them, ACC acting chairman M Shahabuddin told UNB over the phone Saturday.
In February 2014, the ACC launched a probe into the graft allegation against Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee. ACC deputy director Manzur Morshed conducted the inquiry.
During the ACC's inquiry, it was found that illegal wealth worth nearly Tk 0.15 million was amassed by Anee and his family members.
In February 2014, the ACC initiated probe against Abdul Jabbar, a former MP of Satkhira-2, along with six other ruling party politicians for allegedly accumulating unusual wealth.
Earlier, the national anti-graft body grilled Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee and Abdul Jabbar in connection with the illegal wealth accumulations.
