ACC to summon 12 more corrupt suspects soon

The Anti-Corruption Com-mission is going to summon soon 12 more corrupt suspects, mostly politicians like Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and Lutfozzaman Babar, to come up with their wealth statements, reports UNB.
"The matter of issuing notices to the 12 corrupt suspects asking them to submit their wealth statements within a given time is pending with the Commission and subject to its approval. A decision will be taken very soon," an ACC source said Tuesday.
Those who are going to be issued summons are former minister and BNP leader Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, former minister and Awami League leader Sheikh Selim and immediate-past State Minister for Home Affairs Babar, Barisal City mayor Mujibur Rahman Sarwar (BNP), former State Minister for Power Rafiqul Islam (AL), former State Minister for Youth and Sports Fazlur Rahman Patal (BNP), former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's assignment officer Firoj Mahmud Iqbal, former Awami League MP Noor E Alam Chowdhury, former chief whip Abul Hasnat Abdullah's son Moin Abdullah, CBA leader Abul Kalam Azad, former state minister Kamrul Islam's son Tanvirul Islam and Masudur Rahman.
It was learnt that these individuals, many of whom already in jail, are on the 'third list' containing 54 corrupt suspects.
Meanwhile, the ACC today (Tuesday) began delivering notices to 17 corrupt suspects, including former ministers Barrister Moudud Ahmed and Barrister Aminul Haque, directing them to submit their wealth statements within seven working days.
According to sources, the notices have been delivered to more than half of the corrupt suspects whose names appeared on the second list.
The anti-graft watchdog in its meeting Thursday approved the issuance of summons to the 17 individuals.
They are former ministers Barrister Moudud Ahmed and Barrister Aminul Haque, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's assistant private secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, former Commerce Adviser and Juba Dal president Barkat Ullah Bulu, former APS to Hasina Rabiul Muqtadir, AL' s Religious Affairs secretary Sheikh Md Abdullah, former Khulna City mayor Kazi Aminul Haq, former minister Mirza Abbas' brother Mirza Khokon, Khaleda Zia's nephew Shahrin Islam Tuhin, former BNP MP Habibul Islam Habib, BNP pourasava chairman Manirul Haq Saku, AL leader Ali Reza Chowdhury, former BNP pourasava chairman Golam Kibria Gaus, former MP and Partex Group Chairman Abul Hashem, former secretary Ismail Zabiullah, owner of Uttara Group Giridhari Lal Modi and former member of National Board of Revenue ATM Sarwar Hossain.
