Immigration Police have prevented film actress Nasrin Akter Nipun from flying to London, turning her away from the MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet, reports bdnews24.com.
The incident occurred at around 09:30am on Friday, said Syed Anisur Rahman, chief of Sylhet Airport Police Station.
Nipun was scheduled to fly to UK capital of London on board Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-201.
An intelligence officer at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Airport said, on condition of anonymity, that the Immigration Police blocked Nipun's passport following objections from several intelligence agencies.
"She was only turned away, but not detained or arrested."
Nipun, former general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association, had aspirations of entering politics and collected a nomination form to a parliamentary seat reserved for women as a candidate from the Awami League.
She had intended to become an Awami League MP for a reserve seat in the Chattogram region.
Nipun had not made any public appearance since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5.
