AL activist shot dead in Jhenidah

A local Awami League activist was gunned down and another sustained injures in an attack at Kushbaria Bazar under Jhenidah Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. The dead is Rintu Munshi, 32, a local Awami League leader and son of Habibur, alias Kati Munshi of Marundi village under the upazila. The injured is Abdul Majid, son of Jharu Mandal of Lakshmipur village in the same upazila. Police said Rintu Munshi came under attack by a gang of miscreants while he along with Majid on a motorcycle was returning home from his business establishment at Kushbaria Bazar around 8:15pm. Miscreants opened fire at Rinku and Majid from a close range near Katakhal Bridge, leaving them injured. Locals rushed them to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Rintu dead, according to UNB.
