An oath was taken to safeguard Prime Minister and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina from all sorts of conspiracies for continuation of the development programmes taken by the government, reports BSS.
Speakers took the oath at a discussion held at the National Press Club in the city on Wednesday, marking the National Mourning Day.
Bangladesh Awami Muktijoddha League organised the discussion with its president freedom fighter M Mozibur Rahman in the chair.
Among others, special assistant to the Prime Minister and Office Secretary of Awami League Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Awami Swechchhasebak League President Molla Mohammad Abu Kawser were present as the key speaker and special guest on the occasion respectively.
"The BNP-Jamaat clique wants to go to the power through backdoor and for that reason they are hatching conspiracies at home and abroad and leader and activists of AL and its front bodies need to remain alert against the evil design," they said.
"General Zia knew everything about the plot for killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Zia later rewarded the killers of Bangabandhu after rehabilitating them abroad and gave citizenship to Ghulam Azam and made the Razakars ministers," they also said.
Following the footstep of Zia, Khaleda Zia and HM Ershad gave all the facilities to Razakars, they said, adding that Khaleda Zia is still out to foil the trial of the criminals for committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation.
