AL does not believe in politics of killing, coup: Nasim

SIRAJGANJ, July 10 (BSS): Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said on Friday Awami League (AL) does not believe in the politics of killing and coup.

"Awami League believes in peaceful handover of power. After the end of the current tenure of the government, the general elections will be held under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2019 in accordance with the constitution. We hope all political parties will  participate in the polls," he said while addressing a pre-Iftar discussion on Victoria High School ground in the district town.

Chaired by district AL President Abdul Latif Biswas, General Secretary Golam Kibria, Professor Habibe Millat Munna, MP, and Krishak League leader Sakhawat Hossain Sweet, among others, addressed the discussion.

Mohammad Nasim said the militancy has been resisted in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

"Because of bold leadership of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has become a peaceful country in the South Asia. Fundamental rights of people including food and clothes have been ensured. Modern treatment has reached the doorsteps of rural people. Agricultural equipment including fertiliser and seeds became available," he added.

The minister said the country has become self-reliant in food. Pastoral people do not go hungry. Child and mother mortality rate has reduced.
