AL for further development of communication between China, Bangladesh

KUNMING (China), Dec 5: The visiting Bangladesh Awami League (AL) delegation has proposed further development of communication between Bangladesh and China by setting up direct road and rail links via Kunming, reports BSS.
The AL team made the proposal during a meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Yunan province Lee Han Bai at a local hotel Friday afternoon.
The Kunming provincial government agreed to send a proposal to the Chinese central government to this end, Deputy Leader of the delegation Syed Abul Hossain said.
"Both sides also reached a consensus to carry out a feasibility study of the project by the concerned ministries of the two countries," Bangladesh communication minister Abul Hossain said.
The AL team and the Kunming provincial government urged AL and Chinese Communist Party to work together for further development of relations between the two countries through enhanced cooperation as well as exchange of experience.
The AL delegation, led by the party's General Secretary and LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, invited the leaders of the Kunming Communist Party to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.
Members of the team this morning reached Sangrila city near Tibet and visited Song Jang Temple and Fuda Que National Park.
They also had a discussion with leaders of the Daiching Communist Party. At the meeting, the Chinese leaders expressed keen interest in the development of ties with AL.
The AL side called for development of relations between the people of two countries in social, economic and technical sectors.
Other members of the AL delegation are Presidium member of the party Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Joint Secretary Mahbub- ul Alam Hanif and Organising Secretary Ahmad Hossain.
The AL team will return home Sunday.
