AL group sweeps Khulna Lawyers Assoc polls

KHULNA, Nov 23 (BSS): The Awami League(AL)-led Combined Lawyers Coordination Forum got the majority posts including president and general secretary of Khulna Lawyers' Association in its annual election held here Sunday.
The polling was held at the Khulna Bar auditorium from 9am to 3pm without any break. A total of 820 bar members out of 920 cast their votes, association sources said here today.
The forum's candidate, Advocate Golam Mostofa Farazi and Advocate Mina Mizanur Rahman were elected president and general secretary respectively of the committee for 2010.
Other elected executives of the group are: two vice presidents -- Advocate Md Rezaul Karim and Advocate Asit Kumar Halder, Library Secretary Md Aktaruzzaman Khan and four elected members-Advocate Purnima Yasmin, Advocate Rustam Ali Mridha, Advocate Rozina Akter and Advocate Sheuli Akter Lipi.
The BNP supported All Party United Lawyers Forum got five posts including joint secretary out of 14.
Its elected executives are Joint Secretary Advocate AKM Shahidul Alam, Literary and Cultural Secretary Advocate Sheikh Zakirul Islam and three members-Advocate Quamruzzaman Baby, Advocate Farhana Haque Daijy and Advocate Md Aslam Hossain.
Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Sheikh Younus Ahmed announced the results last night.
