Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said a vested quarter is hatching conspiracy to destabilise the country.
He came up with the observation while talking to the media after visiting the persons, wounded during the recent anti-discrimination movement, at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday.
"The men of the fallen autocrat (Sheikh Hasina) have started hatching conspiracy against the country and the interim government. They are involved in attacking minorities' houses and committing robberies just to destabilise the country," he said.
"You've (the countrymen) seen that the terrorists have attacked and torched a vehicle of our patriotic army. Those, who were involved in setting fire to army vehicle, are not patriotic. Their bad deeds can never be the acts of democratic minded people. These are just the acts of terrorists."
"BNP and others, who were involved in the students' movement, are not involved in that acts of attacking minorities. All the misdeeds are being committed by the Awami League terrorists."
Replying to a question, Mr Rizvi termed the speeches of former prime minister's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy 'unguarded and meaningless talks'.
"He (Joy) is trying to confuse the nation by deliberately delivering different speeches different times. BNP extends full support to the interim government."
"We fully support the speeches given by the Chief Adviser of the interim government on Saturday. The students were compelled to force the autocrat to resign amid a dangerous situation."
"Many people died and a number of others (students, general people and opponent activists) received serious injuries during the movement. The injured persons are undergoing treatment. We pray for their early recovery," he added.
BNP health affairs secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam and assistant secretary Mahmudur Rahman Sumon, Prof Saiful Islam, Prof Iqbal and Dr Tawhidur Rahman Awal of DMCH were present, among others.
