A leader of the ruling party's front organisation has been abducted from in front of his office in the city, reports bdnews24.com.
Swechhasebak League Dhaka South unit's Social Affairs Secretary KM Arman has been missing since Wednesday night.
Swechhasebak League is the volunteers' front of the ruling Awami League.
"Locals informed us that a few men whisked him away in a white microbus from the Dainik Bangla intersection," Nigar Sultana, wife of Arman told the news agency Thursday morning.
She said her husband was at his office in Motijheel until 8: 00 pm.
"I was unable to reach him on his mobile phone after 8:00 pm on Wednesday. I then called his office and came to know that he went to the Dainik Bangla intersection after receiving a phone call."
Sultana had filed a complaint with the local police Wednesday night.

He said phone-tracking systems showed Arman's mobile at Kakrail at night, but they could not identify the exact location.
The Awami League (AL) leader's wife said Arman had received a mobile phone message three months ago threatening him.
"He had also participated in campaigns for AL-backed councillor candidate Mominul Haque Sayeed, in Arambagh area for the city poll," said Sultana apprehending the opponents might have been behind the abduction.
