CHUADANGA, Oct 12 (UNB): A local Awami League (AL) leader was chopped to death at village Hogoldanga under Damurhuda Upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman Mizan (36), member of ward no 7 and also acting chairman of Notipota Union Parishad.
Family sources said a gang of terrorists swooped on the house of Mizan at 12 midnight and chopped him with a lethal weapon in front of his wife and daughters, leaving him dead on the spot.
The villagers chased the terrorists when they were fleeing after committing the murder but the assailants dispersed them by exploding two bombs.
Victim's wife Doly Khatun alleged that although they had informed the matter to Hogoldanga Police camp immediately after the attack, the police did not come on time to save them.
Agitated villagers Tuesday morning attacked the police camp and beat up the camp in-charge Subedar Munsar Ali and three other policemen.
