BNP alleged on Tuesday that local ruling party MP and its big leaders are involved in the murder of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, reports UNB.

Speaking at a press conference at BNP's Nayapaltan central office, party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also alleged that the government is trying to hush up the incident to escape public wraths.

"Awami League MP, its local unit president and other big leaders are involved in the barbaric killing of Sonagazi madrasa student Nusrat. Even, the SP and OC there abetted the ruling party men," he said.

The BNP leader further said, "So, the government is trying to hide the incident to save the MP, their leaders and police administration from public wraths. The ruling party leaders turned the entire country into a rape valley."

He also alleged that Awami League leaders and activists have long been on the spree of rape, repression and killing across the country. "Violence against women has now broken all the previous records as killings and women repression have now become the habit of ruling party men. The situation in the country is now even worse than that of 1972-75."

Rizvi said their party chairperson Khaleda Zia is not being provided with proper treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University as the government is trying to kill her in a planned way.

He urged the government to ensure the release of their chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail on bail so that she can receive proper treatment at a hospital of her choice.

Meanwhile, BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain alleged on Tuesday that the country is now under the grip of "unelected" people selected by Awami League.

"Democracy is now locked in Awami League's box. In parliament, all but two are selected by Awami League. Even in the recent upazila polls, 441 out of 445 chairmen are selected by Awami League," he said.

Speaking at a discussion, the BNP leader further said, "The current government is not an elected one which is run by some people selected by Awami League. So, parliament, cabinet and upazilas now are not run by the elected representatives of people."

Former leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club in memory of the organisation's founding convener and BNP chairperson's adviser Kazi Asaduzzaman Asad who died on April 3 last.

He recalled the contributions of Kazi Asad to JCD, BNP and different democratic movements in the country. "BNP will always stand by the family members of Kazi Asad."
