AL picks Afroz for Barisal-5 by-poll

Bangladesh Awami League (AL) has nominated Zebunnesa Afroz, wife of late Shawkat Hossain Hiron, as its candidate to contest the by-poll in Barisal-5 constituency slated for June 12, reports BSS.

The nomination was finalised at a meeting of the Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) at the prime minister's official residence Ganobhaban in the city Thursday. ALPB Chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

AL General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said the 10-member ALPB unanimously picked up Zebunnesa Afroz for the by-poll in Barisal- 5 constituency.
