Condemning and protesting the brutal attacks, he said BNP leaders and activists came under brutal attacks by police and ruling party stalwarts across the country while they were demanding immediate release of detained party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in separate peaceful rallies in districts and metropolitan cities on July 1 and in the capital on June 29.

The ruling party cadres also launched attacks on the cars of BNP leaders while they were moving to join a rally in Patuakhali for release of Khaleda Zia. The brutal attacks left several BNP leaders injured, including joint convener of Jubo Dal of Kolapara upazila under Patuakhali.
The secretary general said police and AL cadres confined BNP leader Shamimur Rahman Shamim at Bagerhat district BNP office on July 1.
He also mentioned attack on BNP leader of Duptara Union of Araihazar upazila under Narayanganj on July 1.
Plainclothes police took away former joint secretary of Chhatra Dal central committee Marjuk Ahmed Al-Amin from the capital's Shishu Hospital area. So far no trace of him has been found.
