An Awami League (AL) delegation led by the party general secretary Obaidul Quader has visited Mahatma Gandhi Memorial at Rajghat in New Delhi and placed wreaths to pay tributes to India's Father of the Nation, report agencies.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali hosted a dinner in honour of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and members of his delegation at the mission on Sunday evening.
Quader is now on a three-day visit to India at the invitation of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The dinner reception was largely attended by Delhi-based Ambassadors concurrently accredited to Bangladesh, former Indian envoys in Bangladesh, local elite and media people.
On arrival at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport earlier on Sunday Quader and his delegation members were warmly greeted by senior BJP leaders and MPs, said the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Monday.
During the three-day visit, the AL delegation was scheduled to have a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
The delegation will also meet BJP President Amit Shah and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, said a party press release.
BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav will also host dinner for the AL delegation members.
AL leaders Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Dr Hasan Mahmud, Ahmad Hossain, Misbah Uddin Siraj, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel, Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Dr Shammi Ahmed, Mrinal Kanti Das, Abdus Sobur, Dr Rokeya Sultana, Sujit Roynandi, Aminul Islam Amin and Golam Kabir Rabbani Chinu are accompanying the AL General Secretary.
The delegation is scheduled to return home today (Tuesday).
