AL to get 95 pc votes if polls held now, claims Mosharraf

MIRSARAI (Chittagong), Feb 5 (UNB): Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain here claimed on Thursday that Awami League (AL) will return to power with 95 per cent of votes if any election is held in the country right now.
"Awami League will get back to power with 95 per cent of votes if any election is held right now…BNP will vanish soon because of its terrorism," he said.
Mosharraf, also an AL presidium member, was speaking as the chief guest in a meeting at the Mirsarai upazila parishad conference room on resisting terrorism and anarchy.
He said anarchists will not be spared no matter which party they belong to and asked all concerned not to sell petrol in the open market.
The meeting was told that Ansar members will be deployed at different points under the upazila to protect rail tracks and Dhaka-Chittagong highway from the acts of sabotage. A monitoring cell will also be opened at the upazila AL office.
It was also decided in the meeting that leaders and activists of AL, Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League will guard every village and mahalla (locality) to resist BNP-Jamaat men.
Additional police super (North) Mostafizur Rahman, commanding officer of Mirsarai camp of Border Guard Bangladesh Major M Khalid, the officers-in-charge of Mirsarai and Joraganj police stations, among others, spoke at the meeting held with Mirsarai Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Ashraf Hossain in the chair.
Earlier, the minister visited the house of Jubo League activist Mohiuddin, who was hacked and burned to death, at Jagdishpur in Haitkandi. He also went to Ambaria where a train derailed following the removal of fishplates by blockaders.
