Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the Awami League (AL) activists are trying to foil the recent mass uprising victory and destabilise the country by using their ill-gotten money.
"We don't have any objection to realising the workers' legal demands. But at the same time we are also concerned, as the fascist Sheikh Hasina's AL activists have started creating labour unrest in the country by using the ill-gotten money that they have accumulated during the last 15 years."
He said these after visiting the residence of uprising martyr Md Sagar in the capital on Friday. The rickshaw-puller was shot dead by police during the movement. Rizvi also handed over financial grant to his family. 'Amra BNP Paribar' (We are BNP family) organsied the programme.
"AL men have now instigated labour unrest in the country," he said while mentioning the workers' unrest at Ashulia in Dhaka.
The defeated forces of the deposed autocratic ruler and her party men are still hatching conspiracy to foil the victory earned through the people's movement.
About the AL government's massive corruption, the BNP leader said AL had signed deals with India without seeing their drafts just to make money illegally.
He warned that the students and people would again shed their blood for protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, if needed.
He noted that as per the directives of BNP Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, the party has started helping the families of the persons, martyred and injured during the movement against Sheikh Hasina.
About Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh comments on Bangladesh, Rizvi said, "A normal situation is now prevailing in the country. Our people will foil any conspiracy. Why do you compare Bangladesh with the situation of Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine?"
The Indian defence minister on Thursday said India is a peace-loving nation, but the armed forces need to be "prepared for war in order to preserve peace".
Rizvi also called on senior journalist Shafique Rehman at his residence in the capital's New Eskaton area Friday to inquire about his health condition. The duo also exchanged views on different contemporary issues.
During the AL regime, a case was filed against Shafique Rehman and others on 3rd August 2015 for their alleged involvement in hatching conspiracy to abduct and kill Sheikh Hasina's son Sajib Wajed Joy.
Shafique Rehman was arrested on 16th April 2016, and later was freed on bail. The police submitted charge-sheets against five persons, including him, on 22nd February 2018. The court awarded seven years imprisonment to them on 17th August 2023. He returned to Bangladesh from London on 18th August 2024 after spending six years there.
