AL wants participatory election: LGRD minister

GOPALGANJ, June 30 (BSS): Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said on Saturday Awami League wants to hold the next general election with participation of all political parties.
"Certainly, we are working for holding a participatory election with involvement of all political parties," the minister said, replying to a question from journalists after paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreath at his mazar at Tungipara here.
"If BNP does not like anything, we cannot make them like it," Mosharraf said.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gopalganj Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman Sarker, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Saidur Rahman Khan, Vice-President of Central Krishak League Arifur Rahman Khokhan, Faridpur District Council Chairman Md Loqman Hossain Mridha and General Secretary of Gopalganj district AL Mahbub Ali Khan were present on the occasion, among others.
Earlier, Khandker Mosharraf Hossain joined a view-exchange meeting with elected public representatives of Faridpur sadar upazila and a reception programme at Badarpur Afsana Manjil Playground in Faridpur on Friday night.
President of Faridpur Kotwali Thana AL Abdul Razzak Mollah presided over the meeting that was addressed, among others, by Faridpur District Council chairman Md Loqman Hossain Mridha.
