Alamgir Kabir, Mashiur sued in corruption cases

Former state minister Alamgir Kabir and 58 suspected cadres of outlawed Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were accused of extortion in a case filed in Naogaon court Sunday, reports UNB.
Another extortion case was filed against former lawmaker and Jhenaidah BNP chief Mashiur Rahman and nine others with Jhenaidah police.
Jahanara Bewa, widow of Moslem of Raninagar, in her case said JMB camp was set up in the village on April 30 and May 20, 2004 in connivance with Alamgir Kabir.
They plundered the villagers including her 1000 maunds of paddy, two power tillers, 9.0 tola gold ornaments, 53 bundles of corrugated iron (CI) sheets, five head of cattle and other valuables.
The court sent the case to Raninagar thana for investigation and report.
In Jhenaidah, well-known contractor Subodh Kumar Kundu filing the extortion case with the police said Mashiur Rahman and his nine musclemen have extracted Tk 5.085 million (50.85 lakh) from him using threat on his life.
