Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Sunday questioned who is more powerful, Almighty Allah or Mufti Amini?
She posed the question while addressing a rally organised by the district Awami League on the Park Playground in Cox's Bazar Sunday, reports UNB.
Referring to Surah Ale Imran in the holy Quran, she said: "Almighty Allah in this Surah declared that He is the only one, none else, who bestows honour to anyone. My question: how (Mufti Fazlul Haq) Amini can say he will pull me down? Is he more powerful than Allah?"
The Prime Minister said that Amini is often vocal about religion, but "he is the person who spread wrong conception about Islam, the religion of peace."
She said the Women Development Policy has been formulated "in the light of holy the Quran and Hadith (Sunnah). "Awami League never went against the holy Quran and Hadith, and will never do so."
Referring to Surah Nisa, Hasina further said that Allah established the rights of women on the property of husband and father. "But he (Amini) is talking against the rights of women."
Citing another verse from the same Surah, she said that Almighty Allah also established the rights of orphans. "But you grabbed the whole property of your father-in-law, 'Hafejji Hujur'. You're only entitled to enjoy the portion that your wife inherited from your father-in-law, but you grabbed the whole property. What about the other children of your father-in-law?"
Regarding the reported new technique of Amini to picket during the hartal hours tomorrow (Monday) with the holy Quran in one hand, she said:
"This is an outright contempt of the holy book. The present government won't tolerate any sort of contempt of the holy Quran."
Pointing fingers at the main opposition BNP, the Prime Minister said they (BNP) are not happy, as the "people of the country are now passing their days in peace. They're now trying to create anarchy, because the people did not vote for them. They are taking their revenge and planning to cause sufferings to the people."
Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina urged all to work unitedly, keeping aside political affiliation and opinion, for the greater interest of the nation.
"I urge all to be united and work for building the country keeping aside the political affiliation for the greater interest of the nation," she said while inaugurating the Cox's Bazar Air Force Base Sunday.
The Prime Minister raised the flag of the first ever flying base in the country. She also signed the relevant order and offered munajat.
She said the importance of Cox's Bazar is immense considering the geo-strategic position. "As the country's land resources are becoming scarce with the passage of time, everyone's eye is now on the sea. Apart from transporting cargo, there are vast resources of fish, gas and other minerals in the sea."
Strict vigilance is needed for protecting such resources, Hasina said, hoping that the Cox's Bazar air force base would play an effective role in providing economic security to the country's vast maritime area, conducting relief operations during natural calamities, and above all in ensuring national interests.
She said it is indispensable to have a strong, professional and modern air force to consolidate the security of a country from the viewpoint of military strategy.
The PM said that to upgrade the air force, the government has taken steps to replace the old planes and helicopters, and to bring the whole country under the radar network. "For this, work is on hand to set up and replace radars in different areas of the country including Cox's Bazar."
She also mentioned that to ensure national security, the present government is working to make the armed forces more effective and strong.
