Ruling Awami League (AL) is likely to finalise its candidates for the reserved women seats in Parliament today (Wednesday), reports UNB.
Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) will sit this evening at the official Ganobhaban residence of the party chief and Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.
A total of 822 candidates from across the country collected nomination papers from the Awami League president's Dhanmondi office to avail the opportunity.
Hectic lobbying is going on for the ruling party blessing to become Members of Parliament against the seats kept reserved for women.
The election to 50 reserved parliamentary seats for women will be held on April 3.
According to the schedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination papers is March 9 while scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on March 11. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 18.
Out of the 50 reserved seats, the ruling Awami League-led six-party alliance will contest the polls in 41 seats, while Jatiya Party in six and the coalition of independent candidates in three seats.
