AL\\\'s 66th founding anniversary today

Awami League (AL) will observe its 66th founding anniversary today (Tuesday), reports UNB.
Founded on June 23, 1949 at the historic Rose Garden in the old part of Dhaka, the party played the lead role in all democratic movements apart from leading the nation in the War of Liberation in 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Prime Minister (PM) and AL President Sheikh Hasina has issued a message marking the party's founding anniversary.
Sheikh Hasina said, "Today, Awami League government has connected Bangladesh with the super-highway of development. Relentless efforts are going on to build Bangladesh as a country to be free from hunger, poverty, terrorism, corruption and illiteracy. It'll be a prosperous, peaceful, non-communal and welfare-oriented state through the implementation of vision 2021 and 2041.
Meanwhile, Awami League has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.
The day's programmes will start through hoisting of the national flag as well as party flag atop its central office and offices across the country at sunrise.
Sheikh Hasina will place wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi in the city at 7:00 am.
The party will hold a discussion at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 3:00 pm with Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam in a statement urged all leaders and activists of the party to observe the day in a befitting manner.
