Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu alleged on Sunday that BNP cannot accept the country's march forward, as the party cannot yet acknowledge its independence, reports UNB.

"What's the role of the party that claims to be an opposition party? BNP cannot accept the country's achievement. The party hindered Bangladesh's progress, as it cannot yet accept the country's independence. It also created hindrance to Padma Bridge financing," he said.

Amu, also the advisory council member of the ruling Awami League (AL), said these while addressing a student rally organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), marking the 35th Homecoming Day of Sheikh Hasina at Central Shaheed Minar in the city.

The AL leader said BNP tried to foil the January 5 election for creating a constitutional vacuum in the country. "They could have created an anarchic situation in the country by taking advantage of the constitutional vacuum. But it was not possible due to Sheikh Hasina's firmness," he added.
