A private car driver, who suffered burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack by miscreants in the city's Maghbazar area on January 9 during the countrywide blockade, died at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Thursday, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Abul Kalam Howlader, 28, son of Abdul Haque Howlader, a resident of Rangta village in Agailjhara Upazila of Barisal district. He had been living in Kalabagan area of the capital.
On January 9, miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a private car in front of Agora supermarket in the city's Maghbazar area as the BNP-sponsored blockade programme was underway, leaving its driver Kalam injured with burns.
In-charge of DMCH police outpost Mozammel Hoque said Kalam, who sustained 30 per cent burn injuries in his body, died at the ICU of the hospital around 12:30 pm.
