The hearing on an appeal against the High Court (HC) judgment declaring illegal the Anti-corruption Commission notice asking detained former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to submit her statement of wealth was Thursday adjourned until March 9, reports UNB.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court passed the order after hearing for three consecutive days the appeal filed by both the ACC and the government.
On November 21, last year, a HC division bench, upon a writ petition of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, declared illegal the ACC notice that had asked Hasina to submit her statement of wealth.
A day after her arrest on July 17 last year in connection with an extortion case, the ACC, through the jail authority, served notice for Hasina to give account of her wealth as part of its bid to find whether there is any ground for filing graft case against her.
In the notice, the anti-corruption watchdog asked Hasina to submit statement of her movable and immovable property to the commission within seven working days.
Hasina, being aggrieved, filed a writ petition with the HC challenging the legality of the ACC notice and won the legal battle.
