The Appellate Division bench of the Supreme Court (SC) Sunday continued its stay for a week the operation of the High Court (HC) order that had asked the government not to disturb, or bar graft-convict and ex-state minister for civil aviation Mir Nasir Uddin from going abroad.
Disposing of the petition filed by the government, the apex court directed both the parties to get the rule pending with the HC resolved in the meantime.
On April 18, the HC following a writ petition issued a rule upon the government in this regard and asked it not to disturb or bar Nasir of BNP from going abroad without due process of law.
Nasir, now on bail in a graft case, in which he was jailed for 13 years, filed the writ petition and sought remedy as he was debarred from flying to Saudi Arabia by immigration police at Shahjalal
International Airport on April 15.
