Arms, ammunition seized, Jubo Dal activist held

COX'S BAZAR, June 16 (UNB): Law-enforcers seized 14 firearms and some lethal weapons in Cox's Bazar and Sylhet districts Saturday in drives under the ongoing countrywide anti-crime operation.
Official sources said joint forces seized some arms and ammunition from the house of a Jubo Dal "cadre" at Napitkhali village in Pekua Upazila Saturday morning.
They arrested Shahadat Hossain, the Jubo Dal man, after raiding his house and recovered five guns, 10 bullets and a Chinese knife, the sources said.
"He was involved in various misdeeds, including land-grabbing," it was alleged. Sahadat was taken in for interrogation.
Another report from Sylhet adds: RAB members recovered a number of arms and ammunition from a graveyard at Narayanpur village in Jagannathpur Upazila of Sunamganj district Saturday morning.
RAB sources said they recovered five guns, three pipe-guns and 16 cartridges, one sophisticated weapon and four tridents.
None was arrested in connection with the haul of arms.
