CHITTAGONG, Oct 9 (UNB): The Divisional Special Judge Court here today (Tuesday) issued arrest warrants against former Jamaat lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury and former foreign minister Morshed Khan's son Faisal Morshed Khan for not appearing before it in a corruption case.
Judge of the Special Court Majnul Ahsan issued the arrest warrants against them and fixed October 18 for hearing.
Earlier on October 1, the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) pressed charges with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court against Jamaat leader Shahjahan Chowdhury for concealing information about his costly Range Rover jeep in his wealth statement and Faisal Morshed Khan for abetting him in the act.
The CMM Court shifted the case to the Special Judge Court the following day. The Judge Court then ordered Shahjahan Chowdhury and Faisal Morshed Khan to appear before it on October 9 (today).
On July 1, ACC Deputy Director Abul Kalam Azad filed the case with the city's Bandar police station.
According to the case, Managing Director of the Pacific Motors Faisal Morshed helped Shahjahan Chowdhury make a forged document for the luxurious jeep.
Shahjahan Chowdhury imported the jeep from England without duty on lawmakers' quota, but it was not shown in his wealth statement. The jeep was later seized from a business establishment of Faisal Morshed Khan.
