Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) expressed concern on Sunday over increasing number of missing people including BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed.
A statement signed by the executive director of the organisation Sultana Kamal said, "The number of missing people of different levels at different places has increased. In most cases the family members of the missing people complained that the law enforcing members wearing plainclothes abducted them. But the law enforcing agency members denied the allegations".
"Twenty people were abducted In different places. Most of them are involved with opposition political parties. BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed is among them. He has remained missing over the last 13 days," said the statement of ASK, a human rights organisation.
It said that the government and the law enforcing agencies are trying to avoid their responsibilities by denying such incidents.
But it is the duty of the government and the law enforcing agencies to trace out whereabouts of the abducted people. So, they cannot avoid their responsibilities by saying that they did not detain them.
